COMEDY @ THE NUTSHELL
This evening is set to be a corker of a night, with Dana Alexander, Jasper Cromwell-Jones, Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue and our fabulous host; the award-winning comedian comedian Paul McCaffrey. Book quickly to avoid disappointment!
DANA ALEXANDER
Dana draws her material from raw life experience with an original and hilarious outlook. She began her comedy career at the age of 18 years old in Canada. Before long she began touring nationally with Yuk Yuk's Comedy Clubs, completed 5 television galas and several radio spots for major stations.
In 2011 Dana moved to the U.K. where she premiered her solo hour at The Edinburgh Festival for which she received rave reviews and nominations including "Best Comic" and "Best International Act" from Chortle and Black Comedy Awards. It was not long before she then featured on British television on programmes such as "Russell Howard's Good News", "Edinburgh Comedy Fest" and "The Culture Show". Her solo comedy special also aired in Canada's popular Stand-up show "Comedy Now" and she has been named in the Top 10 Comedians 3 years running by NOW Magazine in Canada.
"Refreshing and Fearless. Her comedic style has been described as 'smart, irreverent and revolutionary" - Now Magazine
"Like a gift from the comedy gods" - The Herald
"Gloriously dark and painfully funny" - The Scotsman
JASPER CROMWELL-JONES
Jasper Cromwell-Jones is a hapless, buffoonish and very posh ‘explorer’ who retells the story of a particularly treacherous climb. As he recounts his epic mountaineering quest, audiences are suspended in disbelief…that such a doofus could ever be allowed to do something that dangerous.
“Very funny” – Harry Hill
“The high gag rate puts many other character comics to shame.” - The Guardian
★★★★ “Riotously funny” - Fringebiscuit
“An exceptionally polished and professional performance” ★★★★ The Skinny
Creator of Jasper Cromwll-Jones, Joe Bor, currently does TV warm up for ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and Mock The Week and has previously warmed-up audiences on TV shows including ‘Alan Carr Chatty Man’ and ’8 Out of 10 Cats’. He regularly performs at top comedy clubs around the country.
RAYMOND & MR TIMPKINS REVUE
Cutting their teeth compering and performing in Comedy and Variety nights at The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea, they watched the nineties as it wafted gently past until, eventually and not before time, London called. With the fledgling post-fix, "Revue", added, they blasted the clubs with their Guitar and Stylophone stylings, wowing rooms with super slick prop manipulation, dazzling jaded eyes with sandal based choreography that remains inimitable. Now, this terpsichorean twosome tour the country, even venturing as far afield as The Falklands and Oman, to provide spiritual uplift to the brave boys and girls of the armed forces.
Their latest foray is into radio comedy/drama. A 1930s murder mystery based in Brighton and a frankly silly retelling of the Jack the Ripper tale, (too soon?) have so far been forged in the red hot fires of their imaginations.
"This is comedy that reminds us why we go out to see live shows. And it wears its incredible skill, its labour-intensity and its comic genius so lightly one might think it is just a bit of silliness.” - The Scotsman
“Absolutely hilarious” - Viz
“A mad, anarchic triumph of stupidity over style. Not to be missed” - The Guardian
